Orientation for Organizations
New organizations and new staff with existing organizations are encouraged to attend one of our monthly orientations. You'll get an overview of programs and services, an introduction to using the online database and hints on ways to maximize volunteer recruitment. Organizations that engage high school or middle school students as volunteer will stay for the second portion of the meeting that focuses specifically on the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Student Service Learning (SSL) program and requirements for community organizations that wish to be pre-approved for SSL by MCPS.
Orientation is Required for SSL Approval
Attending an orientation is required by Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) for organizations that want SSL approval. MCPS requires attendence at an orientation before your organization will be reviewed for SSL Approval, and also requires that organizations that have been pre-approved for SSL attend an orientation every three years.

More Training & Networking Opportunities
Orientation days have more than the introduction to the Volunteer Center and SSL for nonprofits. Make it a day of learning and come to one of our monthly networking sessions focused on volunteer management.
