RSVP/AARP Tax-Aide Program
As of April 13 all sites are completely full. No additional appointments can be made. The scheduling office will close on April 16 and calls before then should only pertain to changes to confirmed appointments. We look forward to the program starting back up again in 2013.
The RSVP/AARP Tax-Aide Program has over 120 trained volunteers who provide free tax preparation for low- to- moderate income Montgomery County residents, with special attention to seniors. In 2011, volunteers in Montgomery County worked over 14,000 hours to prepare 4,484 federal and state returns, resulting in refunds totaling over $4,000,000.

The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide helps low-to-moderate income taxpayers, with special attention to those 60 and older. Volunteers are trained to assist in filing tax forms and certain schedules, including the Form 1040.
Tax-Aide Important Information |

- We prepare taxes at 22 different locations throughout Montgomery County.

- Our volunteers are trained to prepare simple tax forms. Taxpayers with complex tax returns or instances where the couselor feels they do not have adquate training or knowledge will be advised to seek paid tax assistance. Check out the AARP flier for more for more details.
- Clients who are interested in the Tax-Aide program should first set up an appointment by calling 240-777-2577
- Please bring the following information to your Tax-Aide appointment:
- Last year’s Federal and State tax returns
- All W2s, 1099s (interest, dividends, pensions, IRA disbursements, stock sales …)
- 1098s (mortgage, interest, brokerage, student expenses)
- Social Security or Railroad Retirement statements
- Social Security cards, particularly for children
- Basis for any stock sales (purchase date and cost)
- Alimony received or paid for the year, if applicable.
- If Married and Filing Separately, bring spouse’s SS#; if spouse is itemizing expenses, bring concise list of spouse’s expenses.
- Concise list of expenses if you wish to itemize
- Property tax records
- Photo IDs for adults
